POLITICAL ECONOMY

The Great Recession and the Sovereign Debt Crisis have both revealed serious weaknesses in the architecture and regulation of the global political economy and global governance.  Global flows of capital have fostered investment across the world, providing employment and goods to many formerly without, but speculative investment in search of even higher returns has called into serious question the long-term viability of contemporary capitalism  To meet the needs of the world’s people, to protect the Earth’s environment, to develop the social innovations necessary for global survival, we must “re-embed the economy” in society.
